Referee Refresher & Referee Prep Course
Upcoming in February & March 2025
We have an incredible opportunity to join Larry Porter for a free Referee Preparation & Refresher Course, which will help young referees prepare for Referee Certification.
Larry has a wealth of knowledge to share! He has been refereeing since 1967 and has served in various prestigious positions over his career including past President of the Nova Scotia Referee Association, past President of the Valley Regional Soccer Referee Association President, past Provincial Instructor and Assessor, and National FIFA Assistant Referee Nominee (to name a few!).
This free offering for youth ages 14 and up will help build confidence and prepare you for Referee Certification later in Spring 2025.
When & where is it?
- 4 weekends with a mix of Classroom and Field training at West Hants Sports Complex:
- February 22nd (Community Room), February 23rd (Fieldhouse)
- March 1st (Community Room), March 2nd (Fieldhouse)
- March 8th (Community Room), March 9th (Fieldhouse)
- March 22nd (Community Room), March 23rd (Fieldhouse)
- All sessions run from 9am-10am

Ages 14 and up by March 2025
What to expect?
This event will offer Training in the classroom to cover all Laws of the game, and Practical work in the Field House to include work on offside and movement on the field, use of the whistle and signals.
This event will provide a refresher based on previous teachings from last summer and will also include assistant refereeing and offside as new topics. This is a great opportunity to dust off some cobwebs, prepare for certification, and build confidence!
